The article is timely because tomorrow is when Kevin Mannix's new law takes effect. That law sets a mandatory minimum 25 years for two counts of Rape I, Sodomy I, Sex Pen I or Using a Child in a Display of Sexual Conduct, assuming the two counts are from separate criminal episodes. So, two pictures separated by a sufficient pause will result in 25 years prison for what now amounts to normal teen behavior. The A.G. put together a summary of the law here: [[Tim_Sylvester_Measure_73.doc|Tim Sylwester_Measure 73]]

The Willamette Week has a must read article today on sexting that stems out of a Washington County case that Sara Snyder at MPD handled. The article is touching and tragic and really well written:

Sext Crimes - Oregon has a name for teens who take dirty pictures with their cell phones: Child Pornographer

The A.G. put together a summary of the law here: [Tim Sylwester-Measure 73]

Measure 73 also makes a 3rd DUII in ten years (and any subsequent DUII) a C felony punishable by a minimum of 90 days in jail.
