We've added a new page dealing with fingerprint evidence to the Scientific Evidence section of the site. Fingerprint evidence remains something of a sacred cow within the American legal system, with testimony by fingerprint experts consistently being allowed as evidence in court. New studies suggest that fingerprint comparison may not be as reliable as once thought, but even challenges based on these new studies have not, as yet, met with much success. The new fingerprint page provides resources relating to the certification of fingerprint experts as well as descriptions of the methodology used by those experts.

Future subpages of the fingerprint evidence page will deal more specifically with possible problems with the methodology used in fingerprint comparison, and will hopefully examine some real-world examples of cases where fingerprint evidence was wrongly admitted.
