There is a new section under the Scientific Evidence tab dealing with [/Bloodstain_Pattern_Analysis Bloodstain Pattern Analysis.]

Traditionally, there have been three classifications of velocities of bloodstains: low, medium, and high. While particular activities are believed to cause particular velocities, recent science has indicated that there may overlap among all three velocities, calling into question some of the basic tenants of bloodstain analysis. While no Oregon courts have directly ruled on the issue, several other jurisdictions have admitted bloodstain pattern analysis as reliable scientific evidence.

The new article provides a spattering (pun intended) of links to resources describing typical bloodstain analysis procedures, lists relevant Oregon statutes, provides information on certifying bodies and standards, and gives an overview of the case law governing bloodstain pattern analysis.
