Mandatory No Contact Order While Defendant in Custody

On June 2nd a new law went into effect for domestic violence and sex cases that requires "an order that the defendant be prohibited from contacting the victim while the defendant is in custody." It requires such an order from both the arraignment judge and, prior to that, the release officer. The statute specifically provides for punishment of the defendant via contempt.
