The answer, says the 9th Circuit, is "no." It might be a soft "no," subject to change when the facts change, but in this case of first impression, it was "no" nevertheless. In Dougherty v. City of Covina, the accusations of child molestation led to a search warrant based on the officer's "training and experience . . . I know subjects involved in this type of criminal behavior have in their possession child pornography." Not good enough. The 9th Circuit blog has all the details here.
